Fiji imports about ninety five thousand litres of milk every fortnight for local consumption.

Rewa Dairy Corporative CEO Ratu Sevenaca Seniloli said this includes five containers and each container has 19,000 litres of milk.

He added only fourteen percent of milk is produced by local farmers and millions of dollars goes out of the country for importing milk and other dairy products.

He said local dairy industry continues to struggle due to natural disasters like cyclones, floods and dry weather.

Meanwhile, Ratu Seniloli said they are still awaiting PIB's official announcement for increase in prices of milk and Rewa butter.
