Rewa High Chief under investigation
Lt. Colonel Neumi Lewni said that some members of the Methodist Church have now been taken in for questioning and will be released once the investigations are completed.
He said the few church members who are pushing a political agenda should learn from the civilian coup of 2000 where many members of the Methodist Church were misled by failed politicians which only took the country backwards.
Lt Col Leweni said because the country has gone down the same path before, government is more determined now to ensure that people are not misled by those with vested political interests.
He added that the government issued a permit for the Church's meeting last week with conditions and on the understanding that they will help find a way forward for Fiji however he said the committee had chosen to continue to push its political agenda.
Kepa along with about 4 Methodist Church executives were taken in for questioning and Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama said they have also discovered that the Methodist Church ministers have told their congregation that the conference will go ahead this year which is a clear breach of the Public Emergency Regulation (PER).
