The first major review of the Education Act enacted in 1966 will begin from Monday in all the four divisions.

Six teams made up of education officers will conduct sessions at various places in the Northern, Western, Central and Eastern divisions.

Education Minister Filipe Bole said the revised act should be in accordance with current policy changes in government, respond to existing local conditions and circumstances, meet global needs and trends and cater for technological advancements.

He said a proposed reform will be drafted after they get all the submissions and made available to stakeholders for their comments.

Bole added that the final draft will be submitted to the Attorney General's office by the end of October this year after the Review Committee's endorsement.

According to Bole, the Act is expected to be ready by the end of this year.
