Rewa High Chief Ro Filipe Tuisawau said the answer that many landowners in the country want to know before they give up their land for lease is how much money they will get in return.

Ro Filipe said while the draft People's Charter highlights that key measures and actions must be taken with due priority and urgency to create a market for lease land, the draft charter does not look at other options which the landowners can be involved in more than waiting to collect land rent.

Ro Filipe said the draft charter should have looked at ways to educate landowners on what they can do to make use of their land rather than depending on what income they will get if they lease out their land.

He also believes that landowners must be well educated on how they will utilize their lease money before they agree on giving their land out for lease.
