The head of the Asia Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development said the return to democracy in Fiji is a long-term journey.
Javad Mottaghi, who is at the Pacific Media Summit in Vanuatu, said his organization is a non-political body that encourages dialogue and whose ethics will not interfere in the affairs of member countries.
Last week, Mottaghi was at the annual AIDB conference organized by the Fiji government in Nadi.
Mottaghi said there is no single way to establish democracy that anyone outside can prescribe.
Meanwhile, Radio NZ is reporting that the head of the Asia Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development has given his tacit support for the censorship in Fiji.
Mottaghi then declined to comment on whether it was right to have strict media censorship.
