The Police Commissioner’s Office has today clarified that letters sent to those Police Officers who have passed the age of 55 and those who will retire soon, was done in accordance with the Fiji Court of Appeal ruling that PSC can implement the retirement age at 55.
Police Spokesperson, Ema Mua said the letters were sent last week to the Officers before the stay order was applied in the Court.
According to Mua, more than 20 Police Officers have received the letter from the Commissioner's office. Also, it will be known today whether or not a permanent stay order will be issued against the High Court ruling to reduce the retirement age from 60 to 55.
