A serious knee injury has ruled the Blues lock Culum Retallick out of action for six months, putting his Super Rugby season in doubt.

Retallick is expected to be out of action for around six months, though he is hoping to make a return towards the end of the Super Rugby season.

A decision on whether or not he will be replaced will be made in the New Year.

The NZ Super Rugby season kicks off with the defending champions, Chiefs taking on the Crusaders on February 21st.
