The Suva Retailers Association has come out in support of the move to switch off unnecessary lights around the city in a bid to raise awareness on the effects of climate change.

Earth Hour celebrated in over 24 cities around the world started in 2007 in Sydney where 2100 business houses turned off their lights for one hour which reduced their electricity consumption by 10.2%.

Association President Himmat Lodhia said the initiative by the WWF to commemorate Earth Hour this year is a good chance for retailers and business houses to be able to see the impact they have on making a change.
