The Fiji Retailers Association is concerned that businesses are losing out on customers and staff due to the current water problem.
President Himmat Lodhia said the water disruptions are now becoming a worrying thing for the business community as they also cannot hold important meetings with government departments which are closed due to the water problem.
Water Department Central Eastern spokesperson Maika Nagalu said water tanks to be installed in affected areas will cost $45,000 adding they plan to buy 37 water tanks with 20 to be installed today.
Meanwhile, Nagalu said water supply is expected to normalize this afternoon in Tuirara, Tovata, upper areas of Makoi, Valelevu, Tacirua East, Cunningham, New Town, Caubati, Laucala Beach, Raiwaqa, Vatuwaqa, Rifle Range, after repair works were completed on the Wainibuku Water Pump which had developed mechanical problems this morning.
The areas that will still be affected include Brown Street, Gorrie Street, Tawa Street, Nacara in Vatuwaqa, USP, Grantham Road, Desvoeux Road, Selbourne Street and the Government Buildings.
