The President of Fiji Retailers Association has welcomed the Trade and Commerce Ministers warning to retailers to stop using the "No Refund" sign in shops anywhere in Fiji.
Himmat Lodhia said that instead of putting the no refund signs, traders should have other signs such as “choose carefully or if goods are faulty we will meet our obligations under the Fair Trading Decree 1992."
However, Lodhia said that policing of these practices should not be immediate as retailers need to be trained on the issue.
Lodhia's comment comes after the Trade and Commerce Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum called on traders yesterday afternoon to remove the No Refund signs immediately as it is illegal. He warned traders that anyone displaying the sign will be prosecuted straight away.
