Retail, commercial, liquor trading hours extended
This sees nightclubs in designated areas in Suva and Nadi open until 5am daily.
Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum made the announcement in the last hour and confirmed that as from today the trading hours for all commercial outlets will be uptil 9pm 7 days a week and this will give more time for consumers to do their shopping and more time for businesses to trade.
For liquor trading hours, hotels will be allowed to sell liquor 24 hours Monday to Sunday, taverns will be allowed to sell liquor from 11am to 1am daily, restaurants will be from 11am to midnight, nightclubs 5pm to 1am daily and liquor stores or off-premises will be allowed to sell alcohol from 8am to midnight daily and for club use like the Defence Club or the Fiji Club liquor trading hours will be 9am to 1am daily.
Sayed-Khaiyum said cabinet has also agreed to set up two special zones, one in Suva and one in Nadi.
In the Suva City Zone, shops can trade for 24 hours and nightclubs can sell liquor from 5pm to 5am.
Similarly Sayed-Khaiyum reveals that cabinet has approved a special zone in Nadi which is much bigger as Nadi is a tourist town.

Sayed-Khaiyum said the new trading hours will bring huge benefits to the tourism sector and to Fiji's economy.
The trading hours are effective from today and the Police Commissioner and the Local Government Ministry have been informed about the changes.
