The Fair Trading Department is monitoring retail outlets which are selling fireworks for Diwali.
Acting Director, Anare Vadei said their officials are on the ground for the safety of the members of the public and people caught breaching the law will be dealt with accordingly.
Meanwhile, he has stressed that people are only permitted to use firecrackers from 5pm to 10pm before Diwali and 5pm to 12am on Diwali night.
Diwali will be celebrated next Tuesday.
