There are revelations today that Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama and Reserve Bank Governor Sada Reddy are in Istanbul to try and persuade the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank not to succumb to international pressure and resume lending to the Fiji government.

Fiji is looking for loans for infrastructure spending.

Commodore Bainimarama had earlier stated that Australia and New Zealand are using their political clout to persuade multi-lateral agencies to block funding to Fiji.

Speaking to Radio Australia, Sada Reddy said they will urge those governments that have long term interests in Fiji to support Fiji's access to finance.
