In an effort to bring down the import bill, one of the largest resort has started up their own nursery to plant vegetables which would otherwise by bought from overseas.

Intercontinental Resort and Spa General Manager Neil Houghton said they started the nursery early this year with the aim of providing locally grown organic fruits and vegetables for their guests, which in turn will also save them costs.

Houghton said they are hoping to source all their fruits and vegetables within Fiji, from the first quarter of 2010.
