One of the founders of the Walk On Walk Strong Committee, Sina Kami is now urging the Fiji Cancer Society to resolve their internal problems and ensure that the funds to assist children living with cancer is released to WOWS.

WOWS is the Fiji committee of Tonga's Tae Kami Foundation, established to fulfill the wishes of Sina Kami's daughter, Tae Kami, who was claimed by cancer over four years ago when she was 15.

Tae left a wish list of projects for helping child cancer sufferers.

Sina Kami said she is visiting the children living with cancer and their parents on a regular basis and they need immediate assistance.

Kami said they are running out of time as many families need help now.

As highlighted by Fijivillage, WOWS Chairman, Makrava Wilson said WOWS cannot access its funds held in a Fiji Cancer Society and WOWS bank account with joint signatories.

Wilson confirmed that all the funds amounting to half a million dollars is secure to assist the children living with cancer however they cannot be accessed due to the freezing of the bank accounts after problems in the Fiji Cancer Society.

We are still trying to get an official comment from former President of the Fiji Cancer Society, Nirmala Nambiar.

Current Acting President of the Fiji Cancer Society, Doctor Tukaha Mua said a mediation meeting is being arranged by Munro Leys to resolve the situation.

Doctor Mua said he also wants to ensure that the children living with cancer and their parents are assisted however the Cancer Society is facing difficulties as the funds are frozen and all the Society's records are erased.

Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro confirmed that the Cyber Crime Unit is looking into the matter.

Although the WOWS funds amounting to $500,000 are safe in the account, they will remain frozen until all these matters are addressed.

Fijivillage has been informed that a meeting is also expected tomorrow to address all these matters.

Stay with us for developments.
