The Pacific Network on Globalization or PANG is calling on Fiji, the Pacific Minister and trade officials not to bow down to any pressure from the European Union in supporting any agreement.

PANGS Information Officer Wesley Morgan said the Pacific and European Ministers have announced plans for an interim trade arrangement between the Pacific and the EU, which has been proposed in order to extend the time period for negotiations between the two groups, for a new Economic Partnership Agreement.

Morgan said as far as they can see the agreement offers the Pacific Island countries very little and potentially opens the Pacific to devastating competition from Australia and New Zealand.
