The Vodafone Fiji 7s team came from behind to beat Australia 19-14 in the Cup quarterfinals of the Singapore 7s.
Kitione Taliga was again the hero for Fiji as he made a determined run to the try-line to score Fiji’s winning try.
Fiji trailed throughout the match and made some basic errors.
Australia led 14-5 in the first half.
Taliga scored Fiji’s lone try in the first half after he made a break from Fiji’s 22m line.
Fiji struggled to find their rhythm as the Australians continued to frustrate them with their attacking game throughout the match.
Jasa Veremalua scored Fiji’s second try.
Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan said he told the players not to give the Australians any space in the second half.
Fiji will play South Africa in the first Cup semifinal at 8.28pm tonight.
South Africa beat New Zealand 12-7 in the second Cup quarterfinal.
Argentina beat Samoa 12-7 in the third Cup quarterfinal and will face Kenya in the second Cup semifinal.
Kenya demolished France 28-7 in the last Cup quarterfinal.
The Cup semifinals start at 8.28pm tonight while the Cup Final kicks off at 11.38pm.
