The Nadi Weather Office has warned people living in low-lying in the Central and Eastern division to take precautions as heavy rain may cause localised flash flooding later today.
Director Rajendra Prasad said a trough of low pressure is approaching from the West of the country as occasional heavy rainfall is expected for Navua, Suva, Nausori, Naitasiri and outer Eastern islands.
Meanwhile, second phase of dredging works in the Nadi River is underway which began last week and is being carried out by Hall Contracting Fiji Limited.
The dredging works aims to improve the flow capacity of the Nadi River which is frequently flooded.
The Nadi River broke its banks three times in a week during the January floods.
