Residents Frustrated With Water Cuts
These are the sentiments of residents living in the areas affected by the sudden water cuts experienced since last night and they are also concerned at the amount of time it took for the Water Supply Department to cart water to them.
Delainavesi resident Emily Wilson said that the water cut took them by surprise and they are very concerned with the Water Supply Department.
Meanwhile, Princess Road Resident, Prashant Kumar said that her family of six was badly affected as they were delayed while getting ready for work.
PWD said water trucks will be carting water to affected areas from midday today.
Affected areas are high areas in Samabula, Lakeba Street, Princess Road, Areas in Namadi Heights, Pathik Cresent, Salesi Road, Salato Road, the High areas of Lami, Qauia, high areas of Delainavesi right up to Veisari.
Meanwhile, the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) is still going through the documents seized during the raid at the Suva Water Supply Department and the Labasa Water Supply Department a few months ago.
FICAC spokeswoman Maraia Vavaitamana said investigators are still going through the files and documents that were seized following the raid and will then decide on the next cause of action.
The investigations into the Suva Water Supply Department started following complaints from the public while investigations into the Labasa Water Supply Department started after FICAC was handed the special audit report handed to them by the Finance Ministry.
Vavaitamana said developments in investigations are expected to be released soon.
