Mead Road resident Reverend George Keller said they had acted quickly as soon as the tsunami warning was issued yesterday however it took his wife about four and a half hours to bring their son back home from school.
Reverend Keller hopes decisions are made quickly on how to deal with traffic jams during emergencies.
Reverend Keller has also raised serious concern over the comments made by some businesspeople that yesterday's tsunami warning caused unnecessary panic.
He said the businesspeople should understand that the threat was real as stated by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre that such upgraded warnings are not sent out lightly.
