“I did not lose hope as I knew that we would be saved.”
Those are the words of one of the three fishermen Gyan Ali who was stranded in the Bua waters for over three days after their boat engine developed problems.
57-year-old Ali and two others were rescued by the Police Search and Rescue team yesterday afternoon.
Ali said they managed to survive as they had enough food and water in his boat.
Ali’s wife Saira Bi told Fijivillage that she is grateful that her husband is now home.
According to Bi, her children and grandchildren missed Ali and even one of his sons got sick after learning that his father was stranded out at sea.
