The Indigenous Fijians should not have the feeling that their representations in the Parliament will be affected if the electoral change as proposed in the draft charter takes place.

A NCBBF Member Father David Arms while speaking at the training of trainers said that many Indigenous people have the feeling that by abolishing the Communal seats, their representation in the Parliament will decrease, however he said this is not the case.

Father Arms said changes are proposed in the draft charter for the betterment of the country and people should look into the proposed changes positively. He believes through the upcoming political forum, leaders will come up openly and will support the changes to move the country forward.

However, a former President of the Fiji Law Society Devinesh Sharma said taking into the account the demographic changes in Fiji, it would not be advisable to implement the proposed electoral changes.
