There are reports now emerging that the Samoan Prime Minister, Tuilaepa is trying to push for the relocation of the Forum Secretariat from Fiji to another country.

As the Pacific Islands Leaders Forum meeting continues in Cairns, it is understood that Tuilaepa will be moving a motion to consider relocating the secretariat of the Pacific Islands Forum.

Samoa TV1 News Editor, Lave Tuilatefuga told the Island Sun that the Samoan Prime Minister had indicated his desire to seek the endorsement of the Forum members to go ahead with his motion.

Tuilaepa, in a press conference in Apia had made reference to his proposed motion that he was intending to table in the Cairns Forum.

The Samoan Leader feels that the situation in Fiji warrants the call for the regional office of the Forum leaders to find a new home.

Meanwhile Papua New Guinea's Prime Minister, Sir Michael Somare said he thinks Fiji's Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama has made up his mind and elections will be held in 5 years.

Somare said Bainimarama has said how he wants to run his place, and he said that was the clear message in the Melanesian Spearhead Group Summit. The PNG Prime Minister said it may be hard for Australia and New Zealand to accept it, but this is the stand taken and there is nothing much that can be done about it.

Commodore Bainimarama will comment later.
