Report shouldn’t have been implemented
Namudu said it is very unfair for the interim government to go ahead with something which is still under negotiation.
Namudu's comments come after the Public Service Commission (PSC) sent out circulars to all the ministries and departments that the Job Evaluation Report 2003 had been implemented immediately for the General Public Service, as well as for the Disciplined services.
The Fiji Teachers Union and the Fiji Public Service Association have filed a dispute with the Permanent Secretary for Labour against the implantation of the report asking that the interim government be ordered to negotiate with the association and be stopped from implementing it.
The union's are concerned that people earning $20,000 and above will only benefit from the implementation of the report and others earning less than that, will not get a pay rise.
ECREA had also expressed concern at what it calls double standards and lack of sensitivity by the interim government.
Director Chantelle Khan said that on one hand the interim Prime Minister has approved the deferment on Wage Rate Order and on the other hand his government decides to give a pay rise to the disciplined forces and a few other civil servants.
She said it reflects continuous and gross inconsistencies on the part of the interim government.
