The Fiji Chamber of Commerce has called on the interim government to remove VAT and implement a Goods and Sales Tax in Fiji.
Chamber Vice President, Humphrey Chang said the government loses millions of dollars each year in VAT returns and a lot of time will be saved by government officials who assess VAT return claims.

As Interim Finance Minister, Mahendra Chaudhry announces the National Budget at 11am today, it is anticipated that he may increase duty on a number of imported goods to protect the local industries that are producing similar goods in Fiji.
