The Minister for Education Filipe bole is reminding parents and guardians of their roles regarding the welfare of their children as they prepare to celebrate Fiji Children's Day next week.

Bole said parents should always take time out and listen to the problems faced by children.

He said that children also have their side of the story to tell, and they deserve to be heard where children will have more confidence to share their problems and the abuse on them can be curtailed.

However, he reminds that parents and guardians can counter this by being actively involved in the lives of children.

He said our culture and the traumatic experiences of children often compel them to silence and unless adults are quick to notice the signs of abuse and address the issue, the innocent children would continue to suffer.
