The Ministry of Education says reintroducing the e-ticketing system will help solve a lot of problems that they are facing with the current bus fare vouchers.
While appearing before the Public Accounts Committee meeting, the Auditor General’s Office highlighted a number of issues that the Ministry of Education is facing with the bus fare vouchers.
They highlighted the reports of 2013 that some of the problems were the monitoring and reconciling of the bus fare vouchers which they said will continue until new mechanisms replace the current bus fare voucher scheme.
Public Accounts Committee Chairman Biman Prasad then asked the Ministry of Education representatives whether the problem will be fixed after the reintroduction of the e ticketing system.
Ministry of Education Director Finance Makerita Fuata said it will solve all these problems.
Fuata said they have introduced a bus fare unit to monitor the current scheme last year.
