The Fiji Cancer Society said while vaccination to fight cervical cancer is good, women still need to get their regular medical checks and in the process, a pap smear.
Society President Madeline Curtis said this is a good initiative by the Health Ministry as it will help a lot of women countrywide.
Curtis added mothers also need to have regular pap smears to help prevent themselves from getting cervical cancer.
The Health Ministry received $22.4 million worth of vaccination with the Ministry targeting schools from October 6th, wanting girls to get vaccinated before the school year ends on November 28th.
