The Consumer Council of Fiji is concerned that major supermarkets operating along the Suva-Nausori corridor has been reported to be switching off their freezers and refrigerators at the end of each trading day and turning it on the next morning.

Council's Chief Executive Officer, Premila Kumar said the Council found this out in its market surveillance and has stressed that turning off freezers is a serious breach of the Pure Foods Legislation. She said the action compromises the health and safety of consumers.
