Police have again warned members of the public to refrain from assaulting police officers as it is a serious crime and those caught can pay a heavy penalty.
The call comes after a security Officer allegedly assaulted two Police Officers on duty over the weekend.
Police Spokesperson, Atunaisa Sokomuri confirms people should now start respecting Police Officers for the work they do for the country. He adds they will not tolerate such incidents.
Meanwhile, Police have laid charges on the 48yr-old security Officer from Suva for allegedly punching two traffic Officers who were booking him for speeding in Nawai, Nadi.
The man was stopped by these two Officers after they caught him speeding. While writing the man's details and questioning him, the man allegedly punched both Officers.
It has been confirmed that one Officer got a cut on his chin, while the second Officer received a cut on his tongue and had a swollen face.
