Don't worry the three member Review/Reform Committee will be independent and the reforms will be done to benefit the taxpayer.

These are the words of the Permanent Secretary Labour, Taito Waqa who said the aim of the three member committee currently being put together, is to rationalize and re-orient municipal councils on the delivery of services, improvement in efficiency, incorporating greater accountability mechanisms and to provide the necessary amenities, infrastructure and facilities for the ratepayers and residents of each respective municipality.

Waqa said the Committee will also look at the promotion of greater partnership, harmony and synergy between municipal councils as well as with the central Government.

Waqa adds it has taken a long time for these reforms to take place to benefit the taxpayer and thus any hindrance in this process, both from within or outside the ministry, will not be tolerated.
