Local soccer referee Ravinesh Kumar is set to become the first Fijian to officiate at the FIFA World Cup.
According to the Fiji Football Association, Kumar has been selected as an assistant referee and will be part of the referees from Oceania.
Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel said this is a historic moment for football in the country.
The FIFA World Cup will start in June this year in Brazil.
