SANZAR referees boss Lyndon Bray has admitted Super Rugby officials have made errors in two video referee decisions over the past fortnight.

A try awarded to the Lions against the Blues in Johannesburg last weekend should have been ruled a knock-on because Blues defender Charles Piutau did not try to rip the ball out.

Bray said while Piutau jolted the ball from another player’s grasp, he did not deliberately try to rip possession.

He said the onus is on the ball carrier to maintain possession, so it should have been ruled as a knock on.

Another try awarded to the Bulls late in their win over the Blues in round four, was also incorrect, with Bray confirming the player was tackled so could not move ahead for the try.

The Blues lost 35-20 to the Lions last weekend while they lost to the Bulls 38-22 in Round 4.

The Blues meet the Cheetahs this Saturday at 6.35pm.

Meanwhile, Hurricanes meet the Highlanders this Friday at 6.35pm while the Rebels meet the Waratahs at 8.40pm this Friday.
