Referee Craig Joubert was almost hit by a bottle thrown from the Twickenham crowd after his last‑minute decision ruined Scotland's World Cup dream and allowed the Wallabies to book a semifinal spot.
Scotland refused to blame Joubert's 79th minute penalty for their exit, but questioned why the decision was not sent to the Television Match Official.
