There is no indication on whether Commonwealth Special Envoy, Sir Paul Reeves will meet with the political leaders in Fiji on his two day visit.
Although Sir Paul had said that he will meet with Commodore Bainimarama, some ministers and other key stakeholders, Prime Minister Bainimarama had said that former Prime Ministers Laisenia Qarase and Mahendra Chaudhry should not meet with Reeves.
Bainimarama said Qarase and Chaudhry have been writing letters to the Commonwealth to suspend Fiji and they will just confuse the situation if they are allowed to meet with Sir Paul.
Qarase has confirmed to Fijivillage that no approach has been made by the Commonwealth officials for any meetings.
Before coming to Fiji, Sir Paul had said in an interview that he was interested in meeting with Qarase and Chaudhry but nothing was confirmed at that stage.
Permanent Secretary for Information, Lt Colonel Neumi Leweni confirmed that Sir Paul Reeves will have meetings with Bainimarama, Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, Foreign Affairs Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, Education Minister Filipe Bole, former members of the National Council for Building a Better Fiji, former members of the Electoral Commission, the Fiji Employers Federation and the Fiji Chamber of Commerce.
Commodore Bainimarama said the whole reason for Sir Paul Reeves visit following his invitation is to give them a clear explanation on the roadmap to democracy and elections in 2014.
Sir Paul Reeves is currently meeting Bainimarama, Ratu Epeli Ganilau, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, Filipe Bole and Ratu Inoke Kubuabola and members of the NCBBF secretariat.
All his meetings are being held at the parliament complex and journalists have been told that they will not be allowed into the complex.
