Consumers can expect a decrease in the retail price of petroleum from tomorrow.

However, the price of ghee and flour will increase.

A statement from the Attorney General and Public Enterprises Ministry said that the price of unleaded fuel, diesel and pre mix outboard fuel will be reduced by three cents.

This means the new price of unleaded fuel will be $2.07, diesel will be $1.82 and premix outboard fuel will cost $1.99.

It said the new price of kerosene will be $1.49 which will be a reduction of two cents.

Meanwhile, the retail price of Ghee will now range from an additional 6 percent to 8 percent while the wholesale and retail price of normal flour and sharp will increase by 6 percent on average.

The Attorney General and Minister for Industry and Trade, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said that the approval for change in prices has been based on a submission by the commerce Commission.

He said that the reduction in fuel price is due to reductions in the international refined product prices this month.

Sayed-Khaiyum said that this had also been supported by the weakening of the US dollar against the Fiji dollar which is a good sign.

He said that the increase in the wholesale and retail price of normal flour and sharp is a result of movement in the world market price of wheat due to the reduction in the global wheat production.
