Former Wallabies, Greg Holmes is the most vital asset as the Queensland Reds eye a final spot in tomorrow night's semifinal against the Blues.

The former Test prop will be transformed into one of Reds important position at tight-head prop to face the Blues.

Reds coach Ewen McKenzie believes he is an invaluable force to the extent that despite Holmes being better known as a loose head, he was chosen ahead of a tight head specialist.

They are aware that if they are to beat the Blues and advance to next weekend's final, it all revolves around the scrum, the forward work and the line out.

The Blues takes on the Reds tomorrow at 9.40pm and on Sunday morning at 3.05 the Stormers host Crusaders.
