Commissioner Northern Colonel Inia Seruiratu said Red Cross is providing temporary shelters as evacuees are now moving back to their homes.
He said they are also trying to establish, the total number of people still taking shelter at other evacuation centers in the Northern division.
Col. Seruiratu also confirmed that they expect to carry out an ariel survey of Cikobia and other islands today and they expect to deploy vessels to Cikobia by tomorrow.
The Commissioner Northern stresses that the extent of damage sustained to agriculture, including, sugar cane and rice farms will take time to assess.
He said they have been given a two week time frame to complete a thorough damage assessment before the true extent of damages can be ascertained.
Col. Seruiratu said the initial teams being deployed are to ascertain what sort of immediate assistance people would require such as food, shelter and water before the second phase of the rehabilitation efforts are initiated.
