The Fiji Red Cross initiated its emergency procedures and set up first aid centers in 15 locations around the country moments after the tsunami warning was issued for the Fiji group this morning.

Red Cross Disaster Coordinator Vuli Gauna said this is an initiative to ensure they can react quickly and assist people in case a tsunami hits Fiji.

Meanwhile, residents in the Suva area are now facing trouble in withdrawing cash from the various banks.

According to Westpac their ATMs throughout Suva are down as their main link from telecom Fiji Limited has stalled. The bank also adds that only one ATM at the main headquarters is running.

Fijivillage news took to the streets and noticed that majority of the ATMs have stalled with people queuing up.
