The Fiji Red Cross staffs in the Northern and Central Division have started conducting initial assessments in areas affected by Tropical Cyclone Gene.
In a statement issued this afternoon, the Red Cross said its teams are working closely with DISMAC and relief will be distributed accordingly.
The Emergency Response Team in the West is still on standby due to the current weather. The Team has not provided any assistance or relief items to people in evacuation centers meaning these people have been proactive in taking the necessary things from their home.
The Red Cross branches present in every district from Sigatoka to Nalawa in Ra are monitoring the situation and liaising with the Divisional Service Centre coordinator for the west.
