Papua New Guinea Prime Minister has asked the Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama to reconsider his decision not to attend the special Pacific Island Leaders Forum meeting on Tuesday.

Bainimarama wrote to the Forum Chair saying that he will not be attending the Forum Special Meeting next week asking the leaders to think about Fiji's situation requesting a deferment, in light of the flood and his inability to attend as it is his priority to ensure that the affected people are properly looked after.

However, Radio Australia reports that Sir Micheal Somare has sent a letter to Commodore Bainimarama urging him to attend the meeting adding that he is hopeful that Bainimarama will respond to him and they have prepared for the visit.

Somare has also urged Australia and New Zealand to be more understanding about Fiji's Political situation.
