The nine year tourism development plan by the Ministry of Tourism is a good guideline, however, it is not a real picture of the problem faced by hotel operators.
Speaking to FijiVillage, Fiji Visitors Bureau Chairman Patrick Wong said the industry had improved and they have nearly met the goal of close to 500,000 tourists since the plan was launched however, it is not actually taking into account the amount of money the industry is losing.
Meanwhile, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Tourism Banuve Kaumaitotoya said according to the ministry's nine year master plan ending 2016, there will be a slight decrease in revenue earned through the tourism industry.
