Save the Children Fiji has sent 18 cartons of reading materials to 6 schools in Northern Division.
Chief Executive Officer Chandra Shekhar said these books will be distributed to the schools that were badly affected by Hurricane Tomas and the books will be distributed by Save the Children staff.
He also said a tender has been called for supply of stationaries and books to the affected schools which closes today.
Meanwhile, Shekhar said their surveys revealed 46 schools have been affected and while 1,953 children are in need books and stationaries, 4600 students need lunch.
He added that they are now looking at providing lunch for ten weeks to these students.
