Crusaders No8 Kieran Read has ruled himself out of Friday night’s Super Rugby semifinal against the Chiefs.

The All Blacks No8 was forced from the field with a cracked rib during his side’s last meeting with the Chiefs.

Read has had a string of health issues this season, including a pelvic injury and concussion problems.

The Crusaders tackle the Chiefs this Friday at 7.35pm while the Stormers host the Sharks at 3.05am Sunday.
