The Turaga na Kalevu Ratu Sakiusa Makutu has questioned the new changes to the GCC Regulation in particular the criteria which only allows traditionally installed Chiefs in the Vanua to become members of the GCC.

The Nadroga/ Navosa High Chief while speaking in Fijian said with the new changes, the role of the chiefs will be be-littled and will not be effective, if the Minister for Fijian Affairs, who will chair the GCC meeting, over-rules their decisions.

Ratu Makutu adds that in the new regulation the Minister can also terminate members, putting too much powers upon the Minister. He said the GCC laws are an illegal promulgation forced by the power of the gun and Nadroga Navosa will not support the new changes and the Peoples Charter process.

GCC Review Team Chairman, Ratu Josateki Nawalowalo is expected to comment later today.
