The book "Tuimacilai" talks about the life of Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara which took four years in the making.

It is the first major biography of Fiji's late president and prime minister who was the dominant political figure in the period leading to independence and in the first decades of nationhood.

He was known most of all for his advocacy of multiracial co-operation, through a philosophy of dialogue and consensus he called the Pacific Way.

In the final sad pages of Tuimacilai, author Deryck Scarr recounts the public reaction at Ratu Sir Kamisese's death in April, 2004.

Scarr said that people began to remember with all his forcefulness and impatience, he had actively believed in solving issues by discussion.

This was the Pacific Way.

Dignitaries and invited guests included former government ministers, high commissioners and ambassadors of the Australian High Commission, former PNG politicians, businessmen, the Mara family members and close friends were present during the launch.
