Ratu Epeli to get full police briefing
Nasir Ali denies that he wrote a letter to Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Bainimarama and he is challenging Deputy Police Commissioner Eroni Antonio to produce the letter.
Ali said Antonio on the 5th of February, this year allegedly made a media release that Ali allegedly wrote a letter to Bainimarama saying that Police Commissioner Esala Teleni and his deputy were intending to carry out a coup against the Interim PM.
Last week Ratu Epeli told police officers that public confidence in the force will only be restored if the Officers put aside their personal differences and start concentrating on their core function of service to the public.
He was concerned at the negative public perception of the disciplined forces which has contributed to the erosion of public confidence in the institutions.
He said if the public no longer has faith in the police services, then the very existence is in question and the police force is in danger of becoming irrelevant and the public will then be forced to look for alternative agencies for protection.
