Former Minister for Defense Ratu Epeli Ganilau has confirmed this afternoon that his decision to step down from his ministerial post was in relation to issues surrounding a top executive of Fiji Water in the country.
Speaking to Fijivillage this afternoon, Ratu Epeli said there were some differences in relation to issues surrounding Fiji Water's External Affairs Director, David Roth.
He said he cannot elaborate further on the matter as he is no longer in government but confirmed that his resignation is linked to the David Roth saga.
It has been confirmed that Roth currently holds a valid work permit as it was extended for another three years in January this year.
Meanwhile Permanent Secretary for Information, Sharon Smith-Johns said yesterday when asked whether the Immigration Department has taken any action against Roth, she said there is nothing official on the matter and at this point in time there is a lot of speculation and rumour mongering.
Immigration Director, Major Nemi Vuniwaqa has referred all queries to Smith-Johns when he was contacted by Fijivillage.
Roth could not be reached for a comment.
