The Permanent Secretary for Provincial Development and Multi Ethnic Affairs, Manasa Vaniqi stresses that ration packs that are currently being delivered to villages that were affected by Cyclone Gene, is determined by the extent of destruction on the ground.

Vaniqi said this has always been the trend since the wrath of both Hurricane Meli and Bibi and rejected the idea that the ration packs were associated to the poor state of the economy.

Vaniqi highlighted that apart from supplying ration packs, DISMAC with the Ministry of Agriculture have also supplied seedlings as part of its crop rehabilitation to the affected areas.

He adds a shipment of Kumala seedlings are bound for Lomaiviti group.
