The Interim Minister for Local government is calling on the ratepayers to take their complaints to their respective councils instead of going to the Ministry.

Filipe Bole said that Council's are in a better position to resolve issues however if they cannot resolve it than the Local Government Ministry will provide assistance.

Bole said he will not be entertaining any complaints coming about the Councils as the mayors have been elected to look into the matter.

Meanwhile, Bole has also raised concern that rate collection in small municipal council's has become a difficult exercise. He said even in the small municipal council's which has about 200 ratepayers, only about 50% ratepayers are willing to pay their rates.

He has advised the councils with a limited number of ratepayers to approach the government for assistance if they finding it hard to run the council.
